These days, GPS systems are all around. Not so long ago they were very expensive and very few people had them. So, really the question should no longer be “is a GPS crucial to you” but instead “which GPS would you like to get?”

It’s pretty similar to shopping for a car: analyze the “blue book” value to be sure you won’t get taken advantage of. That’s just being an informed consumer.
What type of customer support do you yearn for them to provide? Do you require a lot of advice? If yes, then you’ll need to make sure that your system comes with a human staffed customer service department. If you like to figure things out on your own, being able to talk to a live person probably won’t seem so pressing. At minimum, you need to be sure that if you want to, you’ll be able to speak with a live person who will knows a lot about warranties, returns and various technical issues you may have to contend with. If there is no customer service support available, continue searching.
